Commencement

Planned for Sunday, June 12th, 2022

CaSB is planning for an in-person celebration on Sunday, June 12th, 2022 from 11AM – 1PM in the Covel Commons Grand Horizon Room. We will adhere to the timely public health guidelines at the time of the event. All eligible graduate have been contacted via email. If you were anticipating to participate in the Spring 2022 CaSB Commencement ceremony, please contact CaSB via Message Center.

Participating in CaSB’s Commencement Celebration

Computational & Systems Biology majors who are eligible to participate in the 2022 Commencement Celebration will be contacted by email at the start of Spring quarter with directions on how to sign up for the CaSB celebration. In order to sign up for the celebration, graduates will be asked to fill out a senior survey and confirm the information that will be read out along with their names during the celebration.

Note, participation in Commencement activities is not the same as “graduating.” Students who participate in Commencement are not guaranteed to earn a degree. Please consult with your UCLA College Counselor and the CaSB Counselor to confirm completion of degree requirements.

Guests

Each graduate will be permitted to bring up to three guests to the CaSB Ceremony. When students sign-up to participate in CaSB Commencement, they must indicate the number of guests they will be bringing (0-3). Due to venue capacity limits, additional guests cannot be guaranteed. When students sign up to participate in Commencement, they will be able to enter a lottery for an additional (4^th, 5^th, 6^th) guest reservation. Lottery winners will be notified by email if their additional guest(s) is confirmed.

There is no charge for guests or graduates to attend CaSB Commencement. On the day of the ceremony, guests and graduates will be checked in at the door. Every guest must be on the guest list. Seating for guests will be first-come, first-served. Graduates will sit together in the front rows of the venue.

The College Commencement Ceremony

The College of Letters & Science Commencement Ceremonies will take place on Friday the 12th. More details on the College Commencement Ceremonies can be found here. Please direct any questions about the College Commencement Ceremony via Message Center.

The College Ceremony is a ticketed event. Students are encouraged to request tickets early as the ceremonies do fill up.

Logistics

Students are encouraged to wear their cap and gown to the CaSB Ceremony, though it is not required.

Graduates and guests are encouraged to check out the UCLA Commencement website for information regarding travel, parking, the College Commencement Ceremony, disability access, etc. General Commencement questions should be directed to the Commencement office via Message Center.
