Spring 2020 CaSB Commencement Celebration
Friday, June 12th, 2020
10:00 AM PST
Zoom Link to Be Provided to Grads and Guests
In light of the current situation regarding COVID-19, the Computational & Systems Biology Interdepartmental Program will be hosting a virtual Commencement Celebration for the Class of 2020 on Friday, June 12th at 10:00 AM via Zoom. The Ceremony will feature remarks by the Chair and the student valedictorian. Each participating graduate will be recognized by having their name and accomplishments read.
After the live celebration, a recording of the speeches will be posted on the CaSB website for graduates, friends, and families who choose not to participate in the live ceremony to view at a later time. The video will remain posted for one week after the live celebration.
Participating in CaSB’s Virtual Commencement Celebration
Computational & Systems Biology majors who are eligible to participate in the 2020 Commencement Celebration will be contacted by email by the CaSB Undergraduate Office with directions on how to sign up for the CaSB celebration. In order to sign up for the celebration, graduates will be asked to fill out a senior survey and confirm the information that will be read out along with their names during the celebration.
CaSB majors who graduated in Fall 2019 (and did not participate in the Spring 2019 ceremony) or Winter 2020, and degree candidates for Spring and Summer 2020 are eligible to participate in CaSB Commencement. Degree candidates for Fall 2020 also have the option of participating in the 2020 CaSB celebration. Departmental Scholars who have completed or will be completing their master’s requirements in the above terms are also eligible to participate.
Note, participation in Commencement activities is not the same as “graduating.” Students who participate in Commencement are not guaranteed to earn a degree. Please consult with your UCLA College Counselor and the CaSB Counselor, Annelise Werhel, to confirm completion of degree requirements.
Friends and families are invited to join the virtual celebration. To ensure that we do not exceed the capacity of our Zoom license, each graduate will be allocated a certain number of logons (unique devices that can connect to the Zoom meeting) to share with friends and family. More information will be sent to graduates via email.
The College Commencement Celebration
The College of Letters & Science will also be honoring graduates virtually this year. More details on the College Commencement Celebration can be found here. Please direct any questions about the College Commencement Celebration via Message Center.
